Absolute Write, a site many writers love and depend on (me included) has been down since yesterday. This happened in 2006 for sinister reasons, check this out here, and here. A quick google search shows that it happened again last year, but I didn’t dig deep enough to find an answer. I love seeing the search terms that send people to my website. This morning, I had two visits from people who googled “What happened to Absolute Write?” I had to laugh, because I was googling the same thing. Sorry – I’ve got no answers, only questions. Anyone else?

Good to know I’m not the only one blogging/wondering about it.
I hope it’s not the same thing that happened last year. From what I read on last years disappearance, it sounds like it was taken down after an angry agent complained.
I’m jonesing for my AW fix, too. I haven’t blogged about it yet, but I will. I googled and found some interesting information. It’s being discussed on another forum, and I also found this:

At least I know I’m not the only one. So is it this ‘blackout’ on the thread by Rolling Thunder at the bottom of Karen Duvall’s link? If so, then people knew about it beforehand. So what’s the deal?
I should have thought to do a Twitter search earlier.
It’s a server problem. Explains why the site was acting up during the week. Poor thing probably wanted someone to know it was getting sick.

She’s a mod on AW and says it’s a server failure and that they’re looking for a new home. 😦
